Eva Bernstein

Eva is an elderly Jewish woman who has developed dementia. She lives with her husband Max and this story follows the struggles Max faces to care for his wife at home while confronted by a baffling array of social care and NHS care providers. He is determined he doesn’t want her to go into a home but he is the sole carer as their his daughter is now living Israel with children of her own. There is a strong interprofessional theme running through this story which culminates in Eva’s admission to hospital after a fall where she develops bronchopneumonia. The impact of Eva’s decline on Max is told in a sensitive but thought provoking way.
